Let all teams in, there’s no such thing as a good bye.

During a wonderful life, I have been fortunate to play 50 years of competitive team sport in both summer grade cricket and in winter grade hockey. The only thing my team mates and I detested was a bye in the competition. It meant a lost weekend. The National Rugby League (NRL) has a bye in its current 15 team competition. I, and hundreds who agree with me, feel the NRL should eliminate the bye immediately by accepting all three applications it has before it: the Central Coast, Gold Coast and Wellington. This would eliminate the bye and spread the game into more areas. After the debacle and extremely bad press of the past month, the NRL needs to lift its game and, by admitting the three areas that want to join the competition, it will gain some lost ground.
