Kill two
league birds with one stone.
During a wonderful life I have been fortunate to play 50 years of
competitive sport in both cricket and hockey.
The one thing my team mates and I detested was a bye.
The National Rugby League has a bye in its 15 team competition.
I, and hundreds of others, feel the NRL should eliminate the bye by
accepting all three applications it has before it; the Central Coast,
Gold Coast and Wellington (NZ). This would eliminate the bye and spread
the game into more areas.
After the debacle and extremely bad press of the last month the NRL
needs to lift its game and, by admitting the three areas that want to
join the competition, it will gain some lost ground.
