Some Corrections Required In Big League Fan Poll
BIG-STEVE'S RED & BLACK SITE - 15/7/04

Big League magazine have published the results of their recently conducted “Fan Poll” in their issue of July 15-21 2004. I believe they have made some glaring errors resulting in the total misrepresentation of the results from the survey.

Firstly in relation to question 72 which asks who is the best rugby league commentator. It has come to my attention that radio personality Robert Corra from radio 2SER received at least 80 votes but does not appear in the rundown of percentages...interesting??? If you voted for the Robert in the survey email the A view From The Hill team at aviewfromthehill@2ser.com. Votes are being collated and the result will no doubt be discussed on the Show at 11:00am Saturday. See my editorial about the show A Radio Show That Truly Represents The View Of The People.

Also in Question 7 of asks which team should be accepted as the 16th team. The results which I am assuming are correct, state the percentages are Gold Coast 47.9% and Central Coast 31.5%, hardly a landslide victory for the Gold Coast over the Central Coast.

However on the same page in large letters they have quoted the following “83% WANT A 16TH TEAM, 65% SAY IT SHOULD BE GOLD COAST”. They appear to have incorrectly quoted the percentage from question 8 rather than question 7.

These words appear under a large photo of the proposed Gold Coast jersey, yes it's THAT photo again, the one where Fatty, apparently in the surrounds of a grimy sauna is holding up a Dolphins jersey (how gay is their icon) with a horrendous grin on his face.

By doing this they have completely misrepresented the result of this question.

Additionally on the front cover are the words “We want 16 teams – Bring in the Gold Coast”

As hopefully a future Central Coast Bears supporter I am very angry and appalled by this error and believe it must be retracted in as high profile a fashion as the error. Many of us are very emotionally entangled with the decision on who a 16th team will be because of the involvement of the Bears. It has been a long wait for us and to come so close to the decision and have such a misrepresentation being published is gut wrenching.
