Wins Favour In Sweet Sixteen. It's been a difficult 4
years for us Bears fans. Debt, Administration, Forced marriage and no
NRL licence. The emotional roller coaster has been pretty much down
hill. But not anymore it seems.
For us die-hard Bears fans the great emotional advantage of the Central
Coast bid is the involvement of foundation club North Sydney. Today NRL
Chief Executive David Gallop spoke about this aspect of the bid with
such precision of understanding it lead one Bears supporter to comment
"I can't believe it wake me up I must be dreaming".
Indeed this sort of comment has been dreamt about and hoped for from an
organisation that in the past has been less than receptive to such
feelings and certainly has never actively tried to resolve the issues.
The NRL is to be commended for these comments. they are very much
appreciated and I encourage the NRL to act on their words and give the
Central Coast Bears an NRL licence.
Additionally John Singleton has said what many Bears people believe
that the ARL is letting us traditional supporters down. If any
organisation in Rugby League should be considering the feelings and the
needs of traditional fans it is the ARL. Yet ironically they are the
ones against expanding to 16 teams.
But Roy Masters article is the most positive sign that us Bears people
have seen yet and it is greatly appreciated.
Honestly, It's enough to make a grown man cry. BIG-STEVE
