The Rabbitohs and the Sea Eagles will play all three grades on the day, a spectacle not seen at North Sydney since the Bears played there last in 1999.
The match day sponsor will be Luna Park, who will be hosting the post-match function for all Rabbitohs fans, as well as running all of the rides and excitement associated with Luna Park on Sydney’s north shore, making this game an event to remember.
South Sydney Football Club CEO David Tapp says the Rabbitohs are crossing the bridge for this home game for two reasons.
“Firstly it is a commercial decision,” Mr Tapp said today.
“The costs of holding this game at North Sydney Oval are greatly reduced compared to playing it at Aussie Stadium.
“We played the Cowboys at Gosford for the same reason.
“Secondly, we are supporting the Humpty Dumpty Foundation which helps purchase equipment and supplies for the sick children at Royal North Shore Hospital.
“They are a fantastic organisation and we are very happy to be helping them out on the day at North Sydney Oval, a venue located in the heartland of what is one of Sydney’s biggest charities.
“North Sydney Oval, in my opinion, is one of the best grounds in Sydney and we are delighted to be taking Rugby League back to North Sydney.”
Mr Tapp is also pleased to be associated with Luna Park Sydney.
“It is wonderful to have Luna Park on board as a sponsor of the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
“They have planned a wonderful evening after the match with entertainment and rides all in operation after the match for the Souths fans going back to Luna Park for the post-match function.
“It promises to be an
entertaining day of football and entertainment for all Souths and Manly
fans.”
