Picture this: It's less than a minute into the start of the match and the opposition scores a try. A few minutes after another and yet another in the space of 5 minutes totally overwhelming your team and putting you on the back foot.

What would be the normal reaction be? Panic?

The Gary Larson coached Premier League North Sydney Bears were faced with just this situation against the Bulldogs on Sunday. "But the boys regrouped, settled down and got in there" said former Bears player Gary Larson.

In an courageous display of maturity the Bears shut down the Bulldogs and hit back with 3 trys of their own to lead 18-14 at the half-time break. The first try by Skipper Ben Black paved the way for  further trys by centre Scott McLean and prop David Letele. Scott McLean also had a good day with the boot converting all three trys.

Back on the field for the second half an early try by the ever present hooker Ben Fisher gave the Bears a 10 point lead with Scott McLean again converting.

"But at the 60 minute mark errors in the ruck by the Bears began to take their toll. A questionable penalty against Norths five-eighth Nathan Smith quickly lead to another penalty which then lead to a Bulldogs try.

Final score 36-24 to the Bulldogs.

Gary Larson named lock Matt Thurston as a standout and David Letele "is getting better every week" and Tim Casey "was strong off the bench". Both Davey and Tim received players player awards.

Despite the lost there is no panic in the Bears camp Captain Ben Black believes "there's a few more wins in us yet". Gary Larson said "The boys are putting in and working hard and we are making them put in so that they can play better football".

In other matches the Jersey Flegg boys had a similar but closer game loosing to the Bulldogs 20-16. Standouts for the Bears were winger Josh Lewis and front rower Cheyne Tickle.

At Seiffert Oval the SG Ball team lost to the Raiders 64-14 however the Harold Matthews had a good win winning 26-16.
