Make no mistake about it — last Saturday’s miracle recovery by the
Bears against Cronulla at Toyota Park was one of the greatest come
backs of all time.
In fact, if I hadn’t of been there to see it with my two eyes, I
wouldn’t have believed it.
Playing for 79 minutes 50 seconds with just 12 men after Brad McLean’s
send-off after the opening tackle should’ve made it impossible to win,
and to do it from 20-0 down at the game’s three-quarter mark simply
defies belief .
It was quite some way to record your maiden victory of the year.
The Bears’ coaching staff was so stunned with what had unfolded before
their eyes they forgot to collect the votes for the players’ player
award. By the time they realised it, the jubilant footballers had
hot-footed it out of the Shire to begin victory celebrations.
Give a point to all of ‘em, we say.
But give two to that inspirational leader Benny Black.
